Where do we come from?

Martin & Pleasance Pharmaceuticals Melbourne was born from my Grandfather Charles Pleasance. His parents moved to Melbourne Victoria in 1853.

Charles opened his own Homeopathic chemist store on 11th May 1872, at 5 Sturt Street in Ballarat.

Charles Pleasance became the third Lord Mayor of Melbourne (1904 – 1905). Check this history of our family...

Charles's sons, Phil and brother Guy Pleasance both became chemists and kept on the Pharmacy in 180 Collins St Melbourne, both have since deceased and passed on the business to other families in Melbourne.

How to Survive Physically During Tough Times.

On April 20 2020 The European Journal Of Clinical Nutrition Published an article on the role of Nutrition and our health habits in surviving a controlling pandemic. The authors stated "At the individual level, the common denominator that drives most of the nutrition and dietary recommendations to combat viral infections, including the Covid Plague, lies within the link between diet and immunity. Existing evidence highlights that the diet has a profound effect on our immune systems and disease susceptibility"

Therefore, the responsibility of the individuals during the pandemic/plague, lies in each one of us to make an effort to choose a healthy lifestyle, eat a diet high in fruits & vegetables, exercise during free time, try to maintain a healthy weight for your frame and age, and get an adequate amount of sleep......here are the basic principals on the next page

IMMUNE SYSTEM STUDY ON OUR DIET AND LIFESTYLE

This is an ongoing research study to try to identify foods that boost the immune system so we know how our bodies are reacting to different changes.

We all need knowledge now as different viruses are coming into our society and our daily lives.

Echinacea crop for fresh plant tinctures sold to Mediherb in Qld. It was pulled up by potato digger, as the whole plant with the roots was needed - Crop costs $2950, profit was $7500, in December, then the next crop we harvested in May the following year was a $9450 profit. We grew & harvested Echinacea purpurea for three more years after that.
